Support for breastfeeding and mothering by a breastfeeding coach, discussions via telephone, discussions via social networks and in-home visits, if need be.
Throughout the Chaleur Bay (RCM of Avignon and Bonaventure), many breastfeeding coaches are trained and available to accompany a new mother during the different phases of breastfeeding, starting with preparation, followed by the initiation to breastfeeding, then through the whole breastfeeding period, and ends with the weaning of the baby. How frequently the mother and the breastfeeding coach contact each other varies according to the needs of the mother. Support may be given by discussing over the phone, discussing via social networks, by communicating in person or by communicating with each other during an event held by the organization. The mother and the breastfeeding coach determine the mean of communication.
